Prolonged Diarrhea In Children Aged 2 Years?
Hello doctor, my child is 2 years old, I have been in diarrhea for 1 month, I have gone to the doctor 2 times the medicine has been used up, usually using regular vanilla flavored milk chil kid, yesterday changed how good the puppies are, the pup is back immediately to the chil kid directly more diarrhea .. maybe because of the milk chil kid, so what should I do now? Or may I give morinaga soya?
Good evening, thanks for the question
SGM LLM milk is lactose-free milk shown in children with lactose intolerance. If the child has diarrhea in addition to consuming this type of milk, it may be suspicious of lactose intolerance. Lactose intolerance is a condition where lactose is not optimally hydrated in the small intestine due to reduced lactase enzymes.
Typical symptoms that appear are persistent liquid diarrhea, bloating, abdominal pain, vomiting, frequent bowel movements, and sour stools.
Consideration to replace lactose-free milk in diarrhea cases like this is diarrhea accompanied by moderate to severe dehydration, plus symptoms of lactose intolerance that is clear as mentioned above. The milk can be given for 1 week.
However, if the child does not show symptoms of dehydration and there are no other symptoms besides diarrhea, then ordinary formula milk can still be continued. If in doubt you should consult with a pediatrician for further evaluation.
Meanwhile, to deal with diarrhea at home, namely:
1. Replace fluids lost through vomiting by administering ORS
2. Food continues
3. Provision of zinc
4. Provision of antibiotics only on the indication and prescription of a doctor
That's all, hope you can help
