Hello, I feel uncomfortable in my throat after flu for more than 2 weeks. The flu had healed but still sputum out sometimes yellow and white and yesterday there was blood spots on the yellow phlegm, as well as symptoms of swallowing pain and when held down the left neck down pain, why is that huh? thank you
Good evening, thanks for the question
Pharyngitis is inflammation of the pharyngeal wall (throat) caused by viruses, bacteria, allergies, trauma, irritants, and others. Children and adults generally have 3-5 times a viral infection of the upper respiratory tract including pharyngitis each year.
Complaints felt include:
1. Sore throat, especially when swallowing
3. Mucus from the nose
4. Can be accompanied or without coughing
7. Weakness in the whole body
8. Decreased appetite
Associated with sputum mixed with blood spots, can come from parts of the airways such as mouth, throat, nose, lungs, or bronchi. In some conditions sputum mixed with blood can indicate certain diseases. But often these symptoms are common and not a special medical concern. Another case with a cough without sputum but only blood, then you should immediately check with a doctor. Therefore further investigation is needed.
Treatment of pharyngeal inflammation depends on the underlying cause obtained from symptoms and physical examination by a doctor. If caused by a viral infection, the doctor can give antiviral drugs, if caused by a bacterial infection then given antibiotics. Make further consultations with your doctor for a physical examination and subsequent treatment.
To reduce symptoms, you should get adequate rest, drink water, rinse with warm water and rinse with an antiseptic mouthwash to maintain oral hygiene, maintain endurance by eating nutritious food and regular exercise, stopping smoking and avoiding cigarette smoke, and avoiding eating foods that can irritate the throat like fried foods.
So, I hope this information helps
