Proper Handling When Bitten By A Mouse?
Hi, I want to ask .. my mother was just bitten by a mouse when she was about to clean the house and the rat bite wound looked quite deep. Shortly after being bitten, my mother immediately washed the wound and gave it an antiseptic. but not long after that the rat bite wound looks swollen. How about this? what should i do afterward? whether to see a doctor immediately?
Rat animal bites have the risk of transmitting several dangerous diseases. The initial treatment which is done by immediately washing the rat bite and by giving it an antiseptic afterwards is correct. It is recommended that the initial wound treatment be washed with running water for a long time. Even after treatment, being bitten by rats may still cause diseases such as:
Tetanus Rabies Leptospirosis Sallmonellosis In addition to that, the place where the rat bite is also infection and swelling can occur. For initial treatment you can take pain and inflammation relievers such as paracetamol and keep the wound clean, warm compresses, do not squeeze the swollen area. Further check with your condition to the doctor is also needed to get anti-tetanus serum or other vaccines needed to prevent disease that may be caused by rat bites. If the examination of the inflammation is severe and infection occurs, treatment with antibiotics may also be necessary.
