Postpartum hemorrhage (after childbirth) in a reasonable volume similar to menstruation is referred to as lochia. Whereas bleeding that exceeds 500 ml is abnormal postpartum hemorrhage, which can be caused by:
Trauma / tear in the birth canal Poor uterine contractions Remnant tissue in the uterus Disorders of blood clotting Lochia that comes out after delivery initially bright red to dark with blood clots in the first 3 days. Then lochia turns more runny brownish red on days 4-10. Then on days 7-14 lochia turns thick white to yellowish and then disappears. Normal lochia can come out more in the morning, after activity, or when breastfeeding. Generally, lochia will be completely clean after 4-6 weeks postpartum.
Mothers need to do an examination with a doctor if the amount of blood that comes out is very much, causing complaints of dizziness, weakness, feeling of fainting or accompanied by complaints of abdominal pain, enlarged abdomen, fever, discharge of new fluid from the vagina. Thus the explanation from me, hopefully useful.
