Acne occurs due to a combination of clogged pores by dead skin cells, excess oil production and also the presence of acne-causing bacteria. Acne has different types, it can be in the form of blackheads, whiteheads, or those that are already inflamed, such as papules (small, painful red bumps), pustules (lumps filled with pus), nodules (larger, hard lumps under the skin) or cyst.

Acne treatment is not instantaneous, it requires regular treatment for weeks or months. Acne treatment also varies, depending on the type of acne and the type of skin.

Masks can be used as a nourishment to the skin and keep the skin moist, but they cannot treat acne instantly. For example, an aloe vera mask can help cool the skin and reduce inflammation. Or a mask containing oranges which are rich in vitamin C, can be an antioxidant and make the face look fresher and brighter. There are lots of ingredients, make sure to use a mask that is registered with the BPOM so that safety is guaranteed.

Mild acne may be treated with products containing benzoyl peroxide, usually over-the-counter products intended for acne prone skin, that contain this ingredient. However, more severe acne requires a doctor's treatment. The doctor will look at the type of acne, analyze the skin type and then determine the appropriate treatment.
