Red Rash Around The Suture Wound After Appendicitis?
Afternoon, 3 weeks ago I finished appendectomy. but the area around the stitches there is a red rash and gradually become black, itchy while the stitches do not feel itchy .. previously dr. The surgeon advised me to cover the wound with a micropore or waterproof tape. Am I allergic to this item? thank you
Thank you for the question.
The area around the former appendix operation is red, then black and itchy, it could indicate that you are allergic to micropore used, or maybe not. Here are some other possibilities that can trigger your complaint:
Allergy to other substances, for example soap, clothing, or certain creams
Infection, for example due to fungi, bacteria, or other microorganisms
Other skin conditions, such as atopic dermatitis, insect bites, hypertrophic scars, neurodermatitis, seborrheic dermatitis, etc.
Try to go back to your stomach skin condition to see a doctor or surgeon who operated on you before. By inspecting the condition directly around the wound, the doctor can certainly give you the correct treatment according to the cause. It could be, later you will be referred to a dermatologist in order to get further treatment.
At this time, you should focus on keeping yourself better. Avoid scratching the skin around the former operation, even though it feels itchy. Take a diligent bath, use a mild soap, apply a moisturizer, then use clothing that is soft and loose. It is not advisable to give any treatment to complaints on the skin of your stomach without direct advice from a doctor.
Hope this helps ...
