Regarding Differences In Personality Disorders?
Hello, is BPD (borderline personality disorder) the same as Emotionally unstable personality disorder?
Emotionally unstable personality disorder (EUPD) is another term for borderline personality disorder (BPD). BPD is a mental disorder characterized by the following symptoms:
Unstable relationships with other people, one time you can trust that person but suddenly become very hateful
Impulsive behavior such as free sex, gambling, spending wasting money, overeating, etc.
Excessive fear will be ignored
Mood swing, one time very happy, then became restless, sad quickly
Self-harming behavior, the idea of suicide
These symptoms cause disturbances in patients so they cannot carry out their daily activities properly, experience disturbances in work or school, as well as bad social life. BPD is more common in the young adult age group. The cause of BPD is multifactorial, involving childhood psychological trauma, genetic factors, abnormalities in the brain and environmental factors.
BPD patients can have difficulty completing their education, success in work, there is the possibility of committing a crime, married life or a relationship that is not lasting, self-injuring, involved in a dispute, etc. Therefore patients who show symptoms of BPD require early examination with a psychiatrist. The main therapy for BPD patients is psychotherapy, which can be in the form of dynamic deconstructive psychotherapy, mentalization based therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and many more.
Thus the explanation from me, hopefully useful.
