Regarding The Tube Attached To The Head In A Child With Hydrocephalus?

I want to ask …rnCan my child return to normal if the shunt tube is removed, thank you…
1 Answer:
Hi Fauzi,
Installation of a VP shunt tube in patients with hydrocephalus is due to the large amount of fluid in the head that can interfere with brain function. Could be due to excessive fluid production, absorption / absorption of fluids that are less, or the presence of obstacles that block the flow of fluid in the head.
The VP shunt tube was removed because it was considered that his medical presence was no longer needed by the doctor who treated him, and this is very rare. Of course, if this is to be done, then it must go through an assessment in accordance with standard procedures.
Most cases of hydrocephalus do require the installation of this VP shunt permanently although it will be replaced periodically. Therefore, releasing it permanently, is only allowed with the permission of the doctor who treats it.
Some studies assume that only a few sufferers then feel the positive effects when removing this VP shunt. Therefore, please discuss further with the doctor who examined your child for more details.
