Regarding The Use Of Nasal Spray For Sinusitis?
The use of nasal spray does it have to be by prescription? Like oxymetazoline, HCL is Afrin. Is there a specific limit on how many times it is used each day? I have sinusitis that recurs every time I am in an air conditioned room. Thank you

Oxymetazoline HCl is one of the decongestant drugs that works to reduce complaints of nasal congestion, bleeding in the nose or disorders of the eye that cause red eyes. This medicine works by narrowing the blood vessels so that it reduces swelling and minimizes bleeding.
Oxymetazoline in the form of nasal spray should not be used multiple times. Although this drug can be purchased without a doctor's prescription and can be obtained at a pharmacy or drug store, it has limitations in its use.
Oxymetazoline should not be used more than 2 times every day, or in the sense that it should only be used intervals of 10-12 hours once use and may not exceed 3 days of use. If more than the recommended dose is used, there is a risk called rebound congestion. Reboun congestion is a condition of recurrent congestion, inflammation and long-term tissue swelling. So that its use for a long time will worsen nasal congestion and inflammation that occurs.
Therefore, if you have a recurring sinusitis, consult the nearest general practitioner or ENT specialist to get an evaluation and treatment that is right for your condition. It is not recommended to use a decongestant drug containing oxymetazoline repeatedly over the recommended dose and should not be used for more than 3 days
So much information that I can convey, hopefully it helps
