Relationship Of Lymph Node Disease With Cancer?
My wife is suffering from lymph node disease and is currently taking medical treatment by a doctor at RSUD Psr. Sunday. My question is whether my wife’s illness can become lymph node cancer?
Hello Ignasius, thank you for the question.
Lymph nodes function as the body's defense, lymph nodes (KGB) will filter germs that enter through lymph vessels, then will produce more defense cells of the body to kill germs so that the KGB will enlarge and be palpated from the outside. In our body there are about 600 lymph nodes. KGB disease in question can develop into cancer or malignant tumors or not depending on the cause. Most of the enlargement of the KGB is caused by a bacterial infection, generally harmless and can disappear on its own after the infection is resolved, usually taking about one week after the infection has healed. This infectious disease can be in the form of inflammation of the upper respiratory tract, inflammation of the lungs, tuberculosis, and others. If the infection is severe, the KGB can also become inflamed, the KGB will become red, painful, enlarged, and feels warm. KGB enlargement can also be caused by other causes such as a benign tumor or malignancy, such as Hodgkin's lymphoma or nonhodgkin's lymphoma. Malignant tumors are usually characterized by an enlargement that occurs progressively, followed by a decrease in body condition, such as weight decreases dramatically, weak, pale, and others. Can also experience enlargement due to the spread of abnormal cells in other places, such as enlargement due to lung cancer, breast cancer, etc. Or it could be due to disorders in the immune system, such as lupus, rheumatism, etc. Different causes are also prognostic for recovery, therefore you should consult your doctor to get a diagnosis and proper management. If the KGB enlargement is accompanied by pain, it can be compressed warmly on the bump area, can also consume pain relievers as prescribed by the doctor, get enough rest, drink lots of water, eat nutritious food. If the complaint does not improve or the enlargement is felt to be greater, you should immediately consult your doctor.
Thus, hopefully useful.
