, I am a newly married woman. What I want to ask, is the hymen able to regenerate? The reason is, every time I have sex with my partner, I feel like the first time we have sex, it’s bleeding and like a hymen is torn every time we have intercourse. Even though foreplay is very maximum and very excited, my vagina is automatically lubricated well and I always relax every time I do it. I have watched it several times, please explain. Thanks.

Hi TA,

Thank you for asking HealthReplies.com.

Please note, the hymen (hymen) is located on the inside of the vagina, which is deeper than the labia majora. Tearing of the hymen will not cause a special sensation, for example, such as torn paper, pain, or others. A tear of the hymen can only be confirmed by direct physical examination, namely by assessing the condition in your vaginal canal.

Recurrent bleeding after sexual intercourse can be normal, but it can also indicate an illness. One of the most common causes of this bleeding is related to the inadequate production of vaginal lubricants. Not only due to inadequate foreplay, this condition can also occur due to hormonal fluctuations in a woman's body, psychological stress, fatigue, family planning side effects, and so on. This bleeding does not always come from a tear in the hymen. It could also, bleeding arises from injury to your other reproductive organs.

Apart from a normal condition due to inadequate vaginal lubrication, it could also be, repeated bleeding from the vagina after sexual intercourse as you experience occurs due to other causes, for example:

Irritation or infection of the reproductive organs Endometriosis (abnormal growth of endometrial tissue outside the uterus) Uterine polyps (benign tumors of the uterine mucosa) Myomas (benign tumors of uterine muscles) Cervical erosion Malignancies in reproductive organs, including uterine cancer, cervical cancer Blood clotting disorders, for example due to blood cancer, hemophilia, etc. You should check your condition directly to a doctor or gynecologist if the complaint has recurred more than 2 times. With a thorough examination, including involving pap smears, ultrasounds, urine tests, and so on, doctors can generally tell whether your complaint is purely related to inadequate vaginal lubrication, or if there are other contributing factors.

In the meantime, in addition to maximizing foreplay, you can also handle your complaints with the following steps:

Improve intimate organ hygiene No stress or excessive fatigue Do not use any additional sexual lubricants, spermicides, or other irritating substances around the vagina. If there is still a lot of bleeding from the vagina, limit sexual intercourse first. Have a good and balanced diet.
