Replace Bandages After Underarm Surgery?
I want to ask 1 week ago, I have axilla surgery on my armpit again, on Saturday the doctor’s question didn’t tell me that I had to change the bandage, so I already opened it for 5 days, how about that or waited for Saturday 2 days again?
Hi Ghaitsa, thanks for the question.
The stitches obtained after the operative procedure have a different time period for healing. The more complicated the surgery, or the larger and larger the stitched area, the healing process will also take longer. A person's health condition also affects the length of the process of healing wound tissue.
At the end of the suturing process the doctor will wash the wound with an antiseptic solution, give an antibiotic ointment, and cover the wound with clean gauze. There are no standard guidelines as to when and how often the bandages should be replaced. The principle is to keep bandages and wounds clean. If before the time to control the doctor turns out the bandage and the wound becomes dirty or wet, then you should immediately replace it with a clean new bandage. Please check your bandages, if there is no fluid, pus, blood, accompanied by pain and swelling, then your stitches might be fine. You can only do the dressing yourself if you feel you know enough about how to treat wounds. If you are not sure of your abilities, then please ask a professional for help. Another important thing is control to the doctor according to the specified schedule.
Hope this answer helps yes. Regards.
