Results Of An Ultrasound Examination After A Miscarriage?
Good afternoon, I want to ask. 2 weeks ago I continued bleeding with an ultrasound, the size of the uterus looked 5×5.44×6.11cm endometrial line (-) what does that mean?
Good night Nafisah, thanks for the question
Endometrial line on ultrasound examination illustrates the thickness of the endometrial lining in the uterine wall which describes the phases of the menstrual cycle in the uterus.
Under normal circumstances the endometrial layer will thicken in the secretory phase during the menstrual cycle. The endometrial lining reaches a thickness of 16 mm which is intended as a place of implantation of the fetus in case of fertilization. If fertilization does not occur the layer will disintegrate so that the endometrial line will thin again.
Measuring the thickness of the endometrial line can also help diagnose a suspected abortion. In the case of incomplete abortion where there is still residual conception tissue in the uterus, the endometrial line will be seen in an ultrasound examination of more than 8 mm.
However, in the suspicion of complete abortion where there is no more residual conception tissue in the uterus, the endometrial line is absent or very thin which is less than 2 mm.
Consult again with your obstetrician for interpretation of your ultrasound results and subsequent management plans.
Hopefully can help,
