Rhinitis Association With Enlargement Of The Konka?
, if we have rhinitis, is it caused by enlargement of the concha nasalis. Because I also had a concha nasal enlargement.
Hi Khofifah, Thank you for the question.
Konka is a normal structure in the nose that functions to regulate the temperature and humidity of the air that enters the nose. Konka can become inflamed so that it increases in size if a person has rhinitis or sinusitis. Rhinitis is inflammation of the nasal wall (including konka) which can be caused by allergies or non-allergies (eg viral or bacterial infection), whereas sinusitis is inflammation of the sinus walls (the air cavity under the cheekbones, nose, and forehead). Thus, rhinitis is not caused by enlargement of the konka but rather, causing enlargement of the konka.
Hope this information is helpful.
