Rules For Taking Zinc Supplements And Probiotic Supplements?
I am 19 years old. Suffers from severe acne so I plan to take zinc supplements (where most patients suffer from zinc deficiency) and probiotic supplements (to improve the gastrointestinal tract which also has an effect on the face on the face). Can the two supplements be used together or should be given pause? Thank you
Hello. Thank you for the question submitted to HealthReplies.com. We can understand the concern you feel.
Referring to the Guidelines of Care for the Management of Acne Vulgaris published in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology in 2016, it was mentioned that antioxidant substances such as oral zinc and probiotics have begun to be investigated for their role in acne therapy. However, until now, studies examining the role of zinc and probiotics have only been in the early stages of research with a small study size. Therefore, to date, there is no valid scientific evidence strong enough to support the recommendation of using zinc or probiotics in acne therapy.
If you experience acne problems that do not get better by using over-the-counter products, you are advised to consult directly with a dermatologist. In mild acne, the doctor will give you night cream, and if necessary antibiotic gel. In acne with a more severe degree, there may be an indication to use oral medication, such as antibiotics or drugs that play a role in affecting the production of oil glands. Given the need for an assessment of clinical conditions to determine treatment needs, you are advised to consult a dermatologist and genital specialist first to plan therapy. Doctors can also plan special actions such as chemical peels or laser therapy to overcome complications such as acne scars or pockmarks.
At home, you are advised to take the following simple steps:
Wash your face at least 3 times / day with pH balanced soap
Avoid the habit of pressing and squeezing pimples
Reduce consumption of foods high in sugar and fat
Stress management well
Avoid facial skin contact with cellphones or other objects that are pressing / rubbing against the skin and not hygienic
