Seeing A Bright White Spot After Seeing The Light?
In the afternoon I have floaters in my eyes like threads / worms; my eyes are minus 1.5 and 0.75. Yesterday I saw the sky very long afternoon I focused it turned out there was a white dot (like a glitter or fly) but not like the floaters I had the shape and it could only be seen if I focused my view on the sky for a long time ,, different from the floaters that could be seen … I why yes? Opyik illusion or an indication of a disease … So far I have no complaints. Thanks
Hello Anaerohs, thank you for asking HealthReplies.com
Seeing white dots like bright light needs to be distinguished between floaters or just optical illusions. Floaters are small to large shadows that appear to hover in a person's vision. Floaters can not only be seen in the form of threads but also can be black spots, and usually will appear after seeing bright light like the sun or staring at something with a bright or white base color for quite a long time.
Seeing a bright white spot or like light after you see the light can be a physiological event. One of the eye's organs, the retina, has two layers of nerves, which are the nerves that function for us to see both in bright and dim places. Therefore, if you see something bright then move to a dimmer place, the nerve cells will adapt again to adjust so that this can cause effects such as seeing bright white spots or black spots on some people.
That also happened to you.
Whereas what is meant by optical illusion is an illusion that occurs due to an error in eye catching. Optical illusions can be physiological or normal because you see very bright light because the eyes get excessive stimulation which then stimulates the stimulation to the brain. For example when you see objects that are so bright you will see a picture of a 'halo' circle that surrounds the light which will often look like the color of a rainbow.
However, to ascertain the condition whether it has a relationship with the floaters that you have or is it just a physiological process, a physical examination is needed for you, and a funduscopic examination is also carried out, or an examination using a slit lamp. So you can consult further with an ophthalmologist . Moreover, if you have vision problems such as low eye or nearsightedness you are also advised to at least check your eye health to find out the health status of your eyes.
In addition to avoiding these complaints and to maintain the health of your eyes, several things need to be considered such as:
Avoid doing activities such as reading in a dim place Avoid looking at a bright screen for too long and too close for example watching TV, laprop, or cell phone screen If not necessary, also avoid or minimize to see very bright light such as seeing the sky in the afternoon or evening If you have to work in front of a bright screen, rest your eyes if you feel tired. Use the correct size of glasses. Control in order to evaluate your eye health and the accuracy of the size of the glasses at least once every two years.
