Shortness Of Breath When Dark?
Hello I want to ask … I’m 17 years old, when suddenly the lights go out I immediately find it difficult to breathe and tightness and panic looking for light. This has worsened in the last 4 years. Please explain, thank you🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
From the circumstances that you experience, shortness of breath when in a dark place may be caused by a phobia. Phobia is a condition where there is excessive fear of something. Phobias can be caused by various things, such as phobias against the dark.
The exact cause of phobia is not known with certainty, but several factors such as trauma in the past are very influential. Phobias can cause symptoms such as confusion, shortness of breath, dizziness, unable to concentrate, trembling, palpitations.
Phobias are not dangerous, and people with phobias will indeed tend to avoid the phobia. For example if you have a phobia of the dark, then you will tend to avoid dark spaces.
Mild phobias usually do not require special treatment. You simply avoid and regulate yourself. But if the phobia is felt to be quite severe and interferes with daily activities, certain medications may be needed.
Therefore, if you really feel disturbed then you should check and consult directly to a mental specialist / psychiatrist, so your doctor can examine your situation further.
