Should Fasting Be Done First To Check For Hemoglobin, Hematocrit, Leukocytes, Platelets And Widal?
Hello, I have had a fever since Monday afternoon, on Wednesday afternoon I checked with the doctor, then the doctor advised me to have a blood check (hemoglobin, hematocrit, leukocytes, platelets, and widal) the next day (Thursday). Do I have to fast first to check the blood? If I have to fast first, how many hours do I have to fast before taking the blood?
Thank you for asking at HealthReplies.com
For blood tests in the form of hemoglobin, hematocrit, white blood cells (leukocytes), platelets, there is no need to fast beforehand. Usually blood tests that require fasting are:
Examination of blood sugar Examination of cholesterol Examination of uric acid Examination of liver function Examination of iron levels in blood The time to do fasting is also different for each component that will be examined (more fully can read this article). Do not forget to return to your doctor after a blood test with the results yes. Thank you, hopefully useful.
