Side Effects After Recovery From DHF?
Hello, I want to ask my sister who was discharged from the hospital 3 months ago the disease was dbd already hit by nerves. And now it’s cured. But now my sister is complaining that her leg muscles are weak so standing up has to be helped especially when walking. It happened twice after being discharged from the hospital, was there a relationship with DBD yesterday? Thank you
Hello Aditia, thank you for asking on Alookter.
Dengue fever if not treated immediately, can indeed cause complications (worsening conditions) in the form of disorders of the nervous system where this damage can be:
Disorders of consciousness Inflammation in the brain due to dengue virus Nerve disorders due to immune disorders such as: Inflammation of the nerve protective tissue Inflammation of the nerve tissue itself nerves that can occur in a person with dengue fever are very diverse and also the level of improvement after the disorder occurs varies depending on which conditions occur, it is still very possible complaints that are experienced by your sister at this time is a residual symptom that is still da due to nerve damage which occurs during dengue fever. However, it can also be caused by other conditions such as disorders of the body's electrolyte balance or weakened leg muscles and reduced mass.
To be sure, it's very advisable to check your sister's condition further to a neurologist for evaluation about her current condition (what is the cause and whether it is related to the history of dengue fever) and determine what treatment should be given.
In the meantime, still encourage your sister to continue practicing moving her legs and trying to move as usual using both feet. It is highly not recommended to let your sister just lie in bed without trying to stand or walk, but still make sure your sister's safety during this exercise. Also make sure your sister gets enough nutritious and balanced food intake every day.
I hope this helps.
