Side Effects Of Chlorine On The Face If Directly Exposed?
Morning, I am Eka Lidya, I am 21 years old. Lately I have been using doctor’s treatments for my face. However, there is a particular concern for me to swim because I am afraid that my face will be dull, have acne and even fear of pimples. Can you think about whether the water in the swimming pool which usually contains chlorine can directly damage or decrease the effectiveness of my facial treatment? please answer and advice yes, thank you.
Hello Eka, thank you for the question for HealthReplies.com
Chlorine or chlorine is a chemical that is usually given in swimming pools to help keep the swimming pool clean and bacteria-free. Chlorine does have several side effects on the skin, for example it can cause the skin to lose its natural oils and become dry, and it can cause skin irritation in people with sensitive skin. This chlorine-induced irritation usually occurs when the skin is exposed to high concentrations of chlorine (for example, direct exposure to chlorine, not those that have been mixed into swimming pools) or exposed to chlorine for a long time.
To overcome the side effects of chlorine on your skin, you can do the following:
After swimming, immediately rinse your body with soap and water
Apply a hypoallergenic, non-fragrant skin moisturizer after you rinse / shower
Avoid swimming for too long
So much information from me, hopefully it will be enough to answer
