Skin Blisters And Swelling After Being Bitten By Mosquitoes?
Hello, I’m Ramzy. Previously I was itchy because I was bitten by a mosquito and then I scratched and caused blisters, but now it’s swollen around the knee so it’s hard to straighten my leg. Why is that? Please provide a solution and what is the right medicine? thank you
Hello, thanks for your question.
Skin is the outermost layer of the body that serves to protect deeper structures such as muscles, tissues, bones, and other organs. Infections of the skin are generally caused by bacterial, viral or fungal infections. Cuts or abrasions on the skin are at risk for infection. Infection can occur when bacteria enter through a cut or blistered skin.
Signs and symptoms of skin with bacterial infection and inflammation include:
Swelling in the surrounding area.
In advanced infections, pus can form under the skin called an abscess.
From the symptoms you describe, it seems that the blistered skin is experiencing symptoms of infection and inflammation. However, this must be confirmed through direct examination by a doctor. The supporting examinations that may be needed include blood tests, X-rays, ultrasound, or other examinations as indicated.
In the meantime, there are some suggestions that you can do so that symptoms do not get worse, including:
Keep the wound area and surrounding area dry and clean.
Cover the wound area with a clean bandage to avoid dust.
Avoid getting the wound exposed to or submerged in water.
Avoid scratching the wound.
