Smelly Discharge From The Nose In A 15-year-old Teenager?
Hello, I want to ask that I am 15 years old, for the past 2 years I have experienced symptoms of fluid like mucus in the nose, the smell of liquid can’t go in and out of the throat and into the nose, I often have headaches but no fever and pain in the face area. What disease? How to handle it?
Discharge from the nose can be caused by several conditions such as:
Flu Colds Rhinitis Allergic reactions Respiratory tract infections Sinusitis Other conditions Rhinitis itself is an inflammation of the mucous membranes of the nose that can be caused by an allergic reaction or due to infection either viral or bacterial. Symptoms of rhinitis can occur every time you are exposed to allergies such as dust, cold air, plant pollen, cigarette smoke and others so that the symptoms can persist and last a long time. If not treated properly or left untreated, it can cause complications such as sinusitis or inflammation of the sinuses, middle ear infections or nasal polyps which can cause symptoms such as nasal congestion, decreased sense of smell, nosebleeds and others.
For this reason, it is best if you tell your parents the conditions experienced so that they will be taken to see a doctor or an ENT specialist. The doctor will perform a physical examination and supporting examinations such as blood tests, allergy tests, x-rays, nasal endoscopy, or a CT scan if needed.
Try to avoid exposure to allergies by wearing a mask when outdoors, cleaning the bedroom regularly to avoid dust and fleas or mites, cleaning the nose with salt water, and also using antihistamines or medications for airway lozenges if needed.
Hope it is useful,
