Sports That Are Suitable For People With Retinal Damage?
!rnSorry, I have a question.rnLast year I was diagnosed with damage to the retina (I often see halos flashing when I wake up or when I close my eyes) which prevents me from lifting heavy weights.r nWhat I want to ask is, what sport is suitable for people with eye damage like me? In view of the prohibition against lifting heavy weights and perhaps the prohibition of pushing too hard.rnPlease answer and help,rnThank you.
Hi Jessica, thanks for asking at HealthReplies.com. For some eye disorders, it is forbidden to do sports such as lifting heavy weights and straining because by doing this there will be an increase in pressure in the eyeball (IOP / Intra Ocular Pressure) which can further damage the eyes. Not only lifting heavy weights, many sports that are included in strength exercise also increase IOP pressure, such as push ups, sit ups, cable crossovers and the like.
So that the sports that are allowed and safe are cardio exercises that do not increase IOP, such as jogging, swimming, jumping, cycling, basketball, baseball, yoga, and treadmill running. I hope you and your family are always healthy.
That's all, hope it helps.
