Surgical Handling Of The Tonsils?
Hello, good evening. I often have problems with drowning since I was a child (until now I am 20 years old) the doctor at the hospital said I had tonsils. And must be immediately operated to remove it. Whether it should be? And I also often have problems with stomach acid, can these two problems trigger throat cancer? Please answer, thank you, good night.
Hello Oetary, Thank you for the question.
Inflammation of the tonsils (tonsillitis) is inflammation that occurs in the tonsils that can be caused by a viral or bacterial infection. Symptoms of tonsillitis include sore throat, the tonsils become swollen and red, visible white spots on enlarged tonsils, swallowing pain, fever, headache, enlarged lymph nodes in the neck. Not all tonsillitis sufferers will be treated with tonsillectomy. Surgical removal of the tonsils (tonsillectomy) will be recommended if the tonsillitis has occurred repeatedly, tonsils are very large causing complications (difficulty breathing / difficulty swallowing), or tonsillitis that does not improve with antibiotics. If you have one of these three conditions, your doctor will recommend a tonsillectomy.
Acid reflux occurs due to weakening of the muscles in the lower part of the esophagus so that stomach acid can flow into the esophagus. Acid reflux disease that occurs continuously can cause several complications, namely inflammation of the esophagus (esophagitis), narrowing of the esophagus, and esophageal Barrett (abnormal growth / metaplasia of the lower cells in the wall of the esophagus). The occurrence of esophageal Barrett causes a greater risk of esophageal cancer.
If you experience symptoms of acid reflux disease, you should consult your doctor for further treatment. Treatment must also be balanced with a lifestyle. Please do the following suggestions:
avoid consumption of spicy and oily foods
avoid consuming caffeinated, fizzy and alcoholic beverages
avoid lying down after eating
avoid eating large portions, you should eat smaller portions but more often
Hope this information is helpful.
