Hello Vinka Noviani,
Covid-19 (corona virus disease) is a disease caused by SARS-CoV-2 infection (a new type of corona virus). The disease is transmitted from droplets coughing / sneezing / talking to patients and also contamination of items by the droplet which we then touch with hands, then the hands touch the mucosa of the nose, mouth, or eyes.
The swab test intended for Covid-19 confirmation examination is taking samples from the respiratory tract (usually the throat and nasal mucosa) with special tools such as a long cotton bud. Then the sample is put into a special container and examined in the laboratory using the RT-PCR (Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction) method. This examination is a quantitative examination that can detect the SARS-CoV-2 virus in the patient's body, both in patients with or without symptoms (asymptomatic) - carrier.
RT-PCR examination of respiratory tract swabs can only be done in certain laboratories that have the examination facilities and trained laboratory personnel. This examination is not intended for screening (healthy people) but for confirmation. Why? Because inspection fees are expensive, it takes a long time to get limited results, tools and materials, so that in the midst of the current Covid-19 outbreak, RT-PCR swab tests are prioritized for those who are included in the screening criteria, for example showing symptoms of Covid-19, namely fever (> 38 degrees Celsius) + any of the respiratory symptoms + history of contact with sufferers / suspects Covid-19 or history of domicile / traveling in areas with local transmission + your symptoms cannot be explained by diagnosis of other diseases.
Covid-19 disease is a self-limiting disease, which can heal itself due to the immunity of the human body without specific treatment. However, in some cases such as elderly patients, patients with chronic comorbidities, and patients with impaired immune systems can manifest severe manifestations such as severe pneumonia, respiratory distress, systemic infections, organ failure, to death.
In the midst of an outbreak like this, our risk of being infected with this virus is huge. Even if there are no symptoms, it is recommended to stay at home (self-isolation) for at least 14 days (because symptoms will usually appear between these times). If you only experience mild symptoms, rest at home and keep your distance from other family members so they don't infect them. Contact hotline 119 ext 9 or 112 or other hotline numbers specifically Covid-19 provided by the local government if you enter suspect or suspect criteria.
Thus the explanation from me, hopefully useful.
