Swelling Accompanied By Pain In The Former Jaw Fracture Surgery?
Hello, I was in a motorbike accident last September, my jaw was broken, I had surgery 2 times then 1 month after surgery there was an abscess or pus, then I controlled again due to the installation of the pen and caused infection. the surgery section of the abscess (the wound is open and there is a hole) and the hole is now closed but there is still a swelling in the surgery section of the release of the pen which is around the chin or under my mouth the left side is still like that because of what? The swelling is numb but not hot and if it is signed a little pain is it a sign of an abscess or pus again? Or is it a bone formation process?
Good evening, thanks for the question
Pain in postoperative wounds can be caused by inflammatory processes or non-infectious inflammation due to tissue damage during surgery or inflammation due to bacterial infection at the site of the former operation.
Local non-infectious inflammation in the area where the former operation is normal and generally will heal and complaints will decrease within 7 days or more depending on the extent of the wound. Handling enough with anti-inflammatory drugs to reduce pain and good wound care.
If complaints of pain do not go away during this time period, especially accompanied by complaints of fever, weakness, wounds that do not heal, there is pus that smells, then inflammation is suspected due to bacterial infection in the area of the former operation. In such cases the cause of the germ must be eliminated by administering antibiotics or pus drainage by surgery and broad-spectrum antibiotics.
We recommend that you do a consultation and re-examination with the treating doctor so that you can evaluate the complaints you feel.
To support the healing process after surgery you must do good and clean wound care, eat nutritiously, and be obedient to take medicine thoroughly.
That's all, hope you can help. Wassalam
