Swelling And Pain In The Wound Caused By A Knife Cut?
yesterday my thumb got hit by the right side of my nail blade, now the wound was open because the skin was peeled off and almost made a thin basin. yesterday I treated it with betadine and I bandaged / I closed the wound. it’s been 2 days the wound hasn’t dried yet and it’s still very painful and my thumb has also become swollen. what should I treat it again?
Thank you for the question.
The wound caused by a knife on the thumb that does not go dry, feels great pain, to trigger swelling can occur purely due to tissue damage that is deep enough, but can also indicate a secondary infection in the wound. Wounds like this should be examined as soon as possible to the doctor or surgeon. Because, in addition to disrupting activities, the risk of infection from wounds to spread to other organs is also wide open if treatment is not given immediately. Usually, to treat wounds like you, the doctor will not only clean the wound, but also sew it and give you several types of medicine.
Before going to the doctor, we do not recommend that you carelessly give medication to the wound. Safer, first clean your wounds the right way, which is:
Wash hands with antiseptic soap, then use gloves Take sterile gauze, then wet with an antiseptic solution or NaCl Clean the wound by pressing it and removing dirt and dead skin cells attached to it, do not rub excessively After that, do not apply plaster too tight on your wound Repeat this step of cleaning the wound 1-2 times a day For the pain to decrease, you can take a pain reliever, such as paracetamol. Do not forget, multiply rest and position your feet higher so that the swelling is reduced.
Hope this helps ...
