Swelling Around The Eye Area Due To The Use Of Baby Oil?
I experienced swelling around the eye and nose area due to the use of baby oil on my face to clean waterproof makeup. Previously, only small lumps appeared and felt itchy and hot. I think it is an allergy and I take the chlorpheniramine allergy medication at night before going to sleep. Then when I woke up in the morning, there was clearly swelling in the eye area and the area above the nose that I put on baby oil yesterday was swollen clearly and still felt itchy. What’s the solution?
Hello, thank you for the question to HealthReplies.com
The symptoms that you feel may be caused by allergic contact dermatitis. Basically, this allergic reaction will disappear by itself if your skin is not exposed to the allergen again, but if the swelling is heavy enough and annoying, you should go to a general practitioner or can also go directly to a dermatologist for further examination and treatment. Therapy for allergic contact dermatitis consists of:
avoid allergens (allergens)
steroid cream (must be by prescription)
oral corticosteroids (if allergic reactions are very severe and must be prescribed by a doctor) and antihistamines (to reduce itching)
Because drugs to deal with this condition can only be obtained by prescription from a doctor, you should check yourself to the doctor directly. You should not buy steroid creams yourself because the use of steroid creams carelessly on the face (especially in thin skin areas such as around the eyes) can be dangerous.
To help reduce swelling and itching, you can compress areas that are swollen and itchy with a cold compress. You can compress for 15-20 minutes, 3-4 times a day. Make sure you don't scratch your skin lesions because they can cause sores, infections, and leave scars. Henceforth, use cleansers that are indeed made to clean cosmetics and are suitable for your skin. If indeed you have sensitive skin and are easily irritated or allergic, you should try to do a patch test first before using certain facial care products or facial cleansers.
So much information from me, hopefully enough answer
