Swelling In The Penis Of A 2-year-old Child?
Tonight … my 2-year-old son in my son’s genitals has swelling and this has been going on for 6 months but he doesn’t feel pain … what’s the solution?
Hello good morning, Mrs. Okta Fanderi. Thank you for asking HealthReplies.com
Complaints of swelling in the genitals can be related to several conditions such as the accumulation of dirt on the tip of the penis (smegma), insect bites, inflammation or infection. Some things that might be the cause are
Phimosis is a condition in which the skin on the tip of the penis cannot be pulled to the back. This condition causes a buildup in the inside of the tip of the penis called smegma, this buildup will usually look like a lump or appear bulging and is usually not accompanied by pain.
Balanitis is inflammation of the head and skin at the tip of the penis. Some cases are related to the worsening of phimosis, which over time, if hygiene is not maintained, an inflammatory reaction will occur. Symptoms that are felt are usually pain and itching and appear reddish.
Insect bites can usually cause swelling and will usually be accompanied by itching and pain.
Some things you can do to reduce swelling are
Clean the tip of the penis every at least 2 times a day and more importantly if not circumcised
Wash hands before washing the penis area
If wet or damp pants should be replaced.
For further examination it should be consulted with a pediatrician or surgeon so this can be ascertained the exact cause and layout.
That's the thing we can say. May be useful. Thank you
