Good morning, thanks for asking at HealthReplies.com. Lymph nodes are glands that exist throughout the body and are grouped in certain places such as the neck, armpits, chin and groin. The function of this gland is to produce immune cells and will swell when there is production of too many immune cells due to infections, immune system disorders, and side effects of drugs. For more details regarding the distribution of lymph nodes, see the image below.
So that in the case of your child, it is possible that the lymph nodes have swollen more than once in the same place because there are not only one glands, but many, more than what is shown in the picture. What needs attention is what causes the swelling. Your step is right by taking your child to the hospital. Your doctor will perform an examination including extracting a history, physical examination and support to be able to find out the causes of this recurrence of the condition. And if the doctor you are visiting is a general practitioner, if it is difficult for your child to be referred to a pediatrician or a surgeon depending on the results of the examination.
Meanwhile, ask your children to maintain overall body hygiene, get adequate rest, eat nutrient-rich foods such as fruits and vegetables to help endurance, avoid stress and drink lots of water. So, hopefully it answers your question.
