Swollen And Purple Lips After Being Bitten?
Yesterday my inner lip was accidentally bitten while eating, then the bite mark became swollen and purple. How do I get rid of the swelling???
Thank you for asking HealthReplies.com.
Mechanical trauma to the mucosal lining of the lips, including from biting, can trigger inflammation. When inflamed, the lips will look swollen, red/bluish/purplish, painful, canker sore, or even bleed if there is an open wound. As long as the swelling is mild, without being accompanied by a watery lump or pus, generally this condition is not dangerous.
Here are the first steps you should take:
Compress lips using warm water
Avoid sucking or biting your lips
If you feel pain, you can take paracetamol first
Limit chewing foods that are too hard and spicy to minimize the risk of irritation
Expand to eat foods rich in vitamin C, such as guava, lemon, orange, sprouts
Gargle with antiseptic mouthwash or salt water
Brush your teeth regularly 3 times a day
However, if the complaint does not improve within 2 or 3 days, you should immediately consult a doctor. It can be suspected that an infection has occurred in the bite mark, so the doctor can prescribe several types of drugs to eradicate the microorganism that causes the infection.
Hope it helps ya..
