Swollen Ankles After 2 Weeks Of Sprained?
Hello, I missed 2 weeks ago. I just massage myself and use massage oil. Initially better. After 2 weeks I realized that my ankles were still swollen and painful. What should I do? Should I go to the hospital? Or did I get badly injured ???
Hello, Afelove. Thank you for the question submitted to HealthReplies.com.
Sprains / injuries are injuries to the ligaments (connective tissue of bones in the joints). This condition can occur due to improper joint movement during daily activities or sports. To make a diagnosis, it takes anamnesis, physical examination, and if necessary a supporting examination by a doctor.
Massage is not recommended in patients with sprains because of the risk of exacerbating inflammation that occurs in joint ligaments. Other things that need to be avoided by sprained patients are excessive heat exposure to the affected joints, drinking alcohol, and strenuous physical activities such as running.
Because the complaint has lasted for 2 weeks, patients are encouraged to immediately consult a doctor or orthopedic specialist in order to do an appropriate evaluation and given appropriate treatment. If there are indications, the doctor may plan an X-ray examination. At home, patients are encouraged to do RICE, namely:
Rest (rest the injured joint) Ice (cold compress the injured joint for 15-20 minutes, every 2-3 hours per day) Compression (dressing the injured joint with an elastic bandage, consult how to use it with a doctor so as not to aggravate the injury) Elevation (lift the injured joint higher when lying down to reduce swelling, for example supported by a pillow) To enrich insight, you can read articles about sprains. Such is our explanation. Hopefully always healthy. May be useful.
