Hello Okot Sua, Thank you for the question.

Has your wife gone to the doctor again? Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are infections that are more common in women than men. This is caused by the size of the urinary tract (urethra) which is shorter in women. This infection occurs due to bacteria that originate in the anus and move into the urinary tract and cause infection. UTI sufferers will have symptoms of pain when urinating, often urinating but a little urine comes out, feeling incomplete after urinating, difficult to hold urination, pain in the lower abdomen, back pain, fever, nausea, vomiting. UTI does not cause black spots on the feet as you mentioned.

To diagnose a UTI, the doctor needs to ask about the patient's complaints, do a physical examination of the patient, and conduct a supporting examination in the form of a urine examination, ultrasound, CT scan. Blood tests do not definitely show a UTI.

Swollen feet can be caused by the following conditions:

kidney failure
liver failure
heart failure
cellulitis
deep vein thrombosis
nephrotic syndrome

Do these black spots / bumps hurt? Is the size bigger? The lump you mentioned can be caused by erythema multiforme, erythema nodosum, bacterial infection, seborrhoic keratosis, and others.

Please advise your wife to return to see a specialist in internal medicine. The doctor will again ask about his complaints, examine your wife, and perform other supporting examinations. After knowing the cause, the doctor will determine the next treatment. Meanwhile, advise your wife to continue consuming water and avoid the habit of holding urinating. To help reduce swelling, raise the swollen feet to be taller for example by placing a pillow under the swollen foot when sleeping.

Hopefully this information helps you.
