my feet are very calloused. Because I live in a house on stilts (wooden base). And I routinely clean calluses with a cutter, but it’s too thin. Finally, if exposed to the umbrella, nails appear (because the building structure has been damaged) .. It hurts a lot. And until it swells up in a small round shape. I consider it like normal pus, so I needles and comes out of water. But if my feet get hit with hard objects again it must hurt and swell but not festering like the beginning. But the longer the bigger .. So far I let it go because I thought I could recover by myself. Deliberately not checking the doctor because I consider it trivial. But as time went by it was almost 2 years but widened. So what should I do, I’m afraid to go to the hospital .. I’m afraid to think about my feet having a severe disease 😭😭😭

1 Answer:

Hi Mtini,

Thank you for the question.

Friction and excessive pressure around the foot can indeed facilitate calluses. Clinically, this callus will appear as an area of skin that is thick, rough, and often peeling. This condition is often not dangerous. However, if you often think about it too deeply using non-sterile tools, including cutters, this condition can trigger wounds and secondary infections in the skin that make your skin feel painful, swollen, reddened, even festering.

Conditions like this should not be left alone. Worried, this infection can be more widespread, damage your foot tissue worse, it can even spread to other organs through the bloodstream. So, check your condition directly to the doctor or dermatologist so that you are given the best treatment. Besides being given medicine, the doctor will also be able to perform a special surgery to improve the condition of your feet.

In the meantime, what can be done is:

Bathe diligently Clean your feet when bathing and wash your feet with antiseptic soap No longer scrape calluses with any instrument Take care of your ideal body weight Improve your home structure so that it is no longer prone to trigger calluses, for example by covering it with a soft carpet Always use clean footwear and padded padded during activities, both indoors and outdoors. Hope it helps huh ..
