Swollen Lymph Glands Have Been 2 Weeks?
Hello, I have had swollen lymph nodes for almost 2 weeks, went to the doctor and was a little flat, after that the next day it was swollen again, what should I do? the doctor said yesterday it would definitely be deflated because the cause was from food, but in reality it was swollen again, deflated again. Do I have to see a surgeon? or before I check the lab first? which I fear can become cancerous if it takes too long
Thank you for the question.
Lymph nodes are useful as a haven and proliferating blood cells which are important in warding off infections. Swollen lymph nodes are most often caused by infection, for example tuberculosis, syphilis, HIV, cat scratch disease, cytomegalovirus, and so on. It could also, besides infection, lymph nodes swell due to a malignancy (such as lymphoma, leukemia, or other cancers that metastasize to the lymph nodes), immune disorders (such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus), or also side effects of certain drugs. The food consumed is actually not directly related to swollen lymph nodes. It's just that, the immune system is not good because of improper eating patterns can indeed make it easier for you to get an infection, including infections that can make the lymph nodes swell.
If indeed your lymph nodes have not diminished even after getting a doctor's treatment, it's best you go to see your doctor for internal medicine. Blood tests, x-rays, biopsies, and so on can be done by a doctor to identify whether the swelling is really coming from the lymph nodes, and if so, then what is the cause and what sort of treatment is appropriate. If it is felt necessary, then the doctor will coordinate with the surgeon to provide you with the best treatment.
In the meantime, don't be afraid yet. Make sure you maintain your personal hygiene and also increase your endurance by resting a lot, eating a variety of nutritious foods, exercising regularly, and not taking drugs carelessly.
Hope this helps ...
