Swollen Lymph Glands That Do Not Go Flat Even Though It Has Been Treated?
Hello, I want to ask that my submandibular lymph nodes have not diminished in 4 weeks. I went to see a doctor, and also had a FNAB test and the results were normal, there were no cancer cells. After that, my doctor was given a prescription for antibiotics. it’s been almost a month after I tested it but how come it’s still big my lymph nodes. If you don’t see it, it doesn’t look swollen. but if you hold it, it sticks out
Hello, thank you for the question to HealthReplies.com
First of all, I want to confirm beforehand whether before the swollen lymph nodes have you (or still are) having an infection somewhere around your head and neck? For example, infections of the throat, tonsils, ears, teeth, skin around the head and neck, etc.?
The most common cause of enlarged lymph nodes is a reaction due to an infection in the organ / tissue around the gland. If it is caused by this, generally the lymph nodes will naturally shrink after the infection is resolved. When exactly the lymph nodes will shrink can vary in each person, can be in a few days, can be up to several weeks. What is more important to be sure is whether the infection has been resolved or not. For example, you have a condition of cavities that are quite deep. If your teeth are not repaired, infections can still occur even if you have been given antibiotics. You must make improvements to the teeth first to overcome the infection.
Other possible causes of enlarged lymph nodes are infections of the lymph nodes themselves (such as tuberculosis infection), cancer of the head or neck area, or it can also be caused by cancer of the lymph nodes themselves. If indeed after 4 weeks your lymph nodes are still large (not reduced in size or even getting bigger), you should do a doctor's examination again.
So much information from me, hopefully enough answer
