Take Dexamethasone When You Have Stomach Disease?
I was out of treatment and I had a sore throat and when I checked the DEXAMETHASONE, was I allowed to take this medicine and I had gastric problems. R nDo I take the antibiotic? R nThank you.
Hello Thomas, thank you for the question to HealthReplies.com
Beforehand, I want to confirm beforehand, did you consult the doctor directly and the doctor who prescribed these drugs (Dexamethasone and antibiotics)?
Basically both drugs are included in the class of hard drugs that you should not take without going through a direct examination from a doctor first. These drugs should also not be purchased without using a doctor's prescription. If indeed you have gone to the doctor, the doctor has done a direct examination of your throat, and the doctor prescribes the two drugs, then your doctor certainly has its own considerations. Dexamethason does have side effects that can irritate the stomach so it must be very careful when given to people with gastric disease. If it must be given because of strong indications, then the doctor will usually prescribe other drugs to provide protection to the stomach to prevent injury or further irritation. To help reduce the side effects of the stomach in the use of this drug, you can take medicine along with food.
If the two drugs are not prescribed by a doctor, you should not take both of them first and consult the doctor directly. Sore throat is not always caused by bacteria so consumption of antibiotics is not always necessary.
To help reduce your discomfort due to inflammation of the throat, you can try doing the following:
rest and sleep more
drink more water
eating cold, soft foods can help reduce sore throat
eat foods that are softer and easier to swallow for a while
avoid eating foods that are too spicy, sour, and oily for a while
So much information from me, hopefully enough answer
