Take Supplements Simultaneously At 5 Months Pregnant?
Hi..I have entered 5 months of my pregnancy. Is it okay to drink Prolacta for mom? But now I am also drinking Promavit .. is it dangerous if taken at the same time? Please directions … thank you.
Hi Abigeylm, thank you for the question for HealthReplies.com
Prolacta for mother is a supplement that contains DHA (214 mg), EPA (20 mg), and vitamin E (10 mg). Meanwhile Promavit is a supplement that contains fish oil, omega 3, DHA (97 mg), EPA (25 mg), folic acid, vitamin A, vitamin B12, vitamin B6, vitamin D3, calcium, magnesium, iron.
Basically the composition contained in Prolacta for Mother is also found in Promavit (except vitamin E). This supplement can be taken from the beginning of pregnancy until the time you give birth and breastfeed.
The recommendation for DHA consumption for pregnant women is a minimum of 300 mg per day (there are no specific recommendations regarding the amount of EPA consumption per day). Looking at the DHA levels in these 2 supplements, it's actually safe to take both of them at the same time. However, you need to be careful when choosing supplements that contain fish oil because oil from fish can contain mercury which is harmful to the fetus in the womb. Pay attention to the information on the supplement packaging that you consume, make sure the fish oil contained in the two supplements has been processed to remove the mercury content in it. It would be even better, if you consult with your obstetrician before taking certain supplements or drugs.
So much information from me, hopefully it will be enough to answer
