Take Two Stomach Medications Simultaneously.?
Good night … I want to ask … Can omeprazole and sucralfate be taken at the same time? Because two months ago I went to the hospital because of my heart problem, and was given medicine for omeprazole and sucralfate and finally recovered, but I I still keep the medicine pack, but I forgot the time and dosi for sucralfate. Because tonight, I feel like it relapsed again, I doubt the dosage of sucralfate as before … Please help with the dosage and thank you
Hello Erni, thank you for asking.
Both of these drugs are intended to treat stomach disorders such as gastritis or GERD. Omeprazole functions to control stomach acid production. Sucralfat serves to coat the injured stomach wall, thereby avoiding further wall damage and reducing pain symptoms.
Both of these drugs should be consumed before eating, in order to protect the stomach. Sucralfat consumption should be given a distance of 1-2 hours with omeprazole (except in emergency cases). This is so that the absorption of omeprazole through the stomach wall is not disturbed by the sucralfate layer.
You should consult with your doctor first, before taking the drug. The doctor needs to ascertain whether the current ulcer pain is indeed caused by the same stomach disorders or not. Avoid foods that are too spicy, sour and oily. Eat small but frequent meals. Choose the type of food that is easily digested so as not to add to the pain.
Hope this answer helps yes. Regards.
