Testpack Results Are Still Positive After Miscarriage?
Thanks for all the answers so far! I want to ask again, after the decision from another doctor, my pregnancy can be maintained until birth, but the reality says differently, the day after the doctor’s statement I experienced bleeding even though it was not much, after the ultrasound the result was that my fetus did not survive. it has stopped, as long as the bleeding is not as much as my normal period. It’s the exact opposite, very little. The doctor’s message is that within a week before the check-up, it is recommended to have a retest, if the results are still positive, a curettage will be performed. Meanwhile, today’s junior high school is approaching a week, my test results are still positive even though the line is not as clear as when I found out the beginning of pregnancy. Will I still be cured because the test result is still positive? Meanwhile, my bleeding has completely stopped. Is this the rest of the pregnancy hormones or is there some leftover from my uterus? Thank you!
Hello Mrs Aling,
After a miscarriage, the doctor will evaluate whether the fetus and all the rest of the products of conception are clean or not from the uterus. In addition to testpack, seen also on ultrasound examination. If it is clean, asymptomatic, and there is a decrease in the hCG hormone, usually there is no need for curettage. If there is still tissue remaining, or there are other considerations, then a curettage is necessary.
After a miscarriage, the hormone hCG will decrease slowly, at varying times, but usually within a few weeks. But in certain circumstances, such as molar pregnancy (pregnancy with grapes), hCG hormone levels are very high. Regular monitoring is usually required for early detection of chorionic cancer.
At this time you should follow your gynecologist for control. Your gynecologist will examine you again and determine the next course of action.
