Thalassemia Minor To Major
Can a minor thalassemia patient be a doctor major,?
Hello Muhammad Mariko, thank you for asking at HealthReplies.com.
Thalassemia is a disease of blood disorders passed down from parents to their children due to abnormalities (mutations) genetically.
This condition in the medical world is divided into 3 types, namely:
Beta thalassemia which has major and intermedia subtypes Thalassemia alpha which has subtypes of hemoglobin H and fetal hydrops Thalassemia minor Thalassemia major is indeed the most severe type of thalassemia due to missing main genes for the formation of red blood cells that cause severe anemia symptoms that can be life threatening , while thalassemia minor is a mild type of thalassemia because only one of the genes that make up blood cells is lost so that it can cause no symptoms at all.
Because this disorder is a genetic disorder that occurs before a person is born, then in general patients with thalassemia minor can not be patients with thalassemia major.
I hope this helps.
