The Baby’s First MPASI Menu Is 6 Months Old?
Night. I want to know about MPASI that I have to give to my child from the age of 6 months onwards
Hello, thank you for the question to HealthReplies.com
At the age of 6 months, breastfeeding alone will not be enough to meet the nutritional needs of infants, therefore supplementary food should start at this age. However, it is still recommended to continue breastfeeding until the child is 2 years or older.
The Indonesian Pediatrician Association (IDAI) recommends giving full MPASI since the beginning of MPASI (not a single menu). You have been advised to directly provide a source of carbohydrates (rice, potatoes, sweet potatoes, etc.) accompanied by the provision of animal protein (chicken, beef, goat, fish, shrimp, etc.), eggs (white or egg yolks may be given directly), protein vegetable (tofu, tempeh, beans), as well as a little vegetable in the main food, fruit may also be added as a main food companion. Single menu is no longer recommended to be given as a prefix MPASI because a single menu (especially a single menu of vegetables and fruit) will not be able to meet the nutritional needs of children in full. For children who are just starting MPASI, you only need to give food 2 times a day as much as 2-3 tablespoons at a time. Food texture at the beginning of this MPASI is thick pureed porridge (puree).
When the baby starts to adapt to the food given, you can increase the amount slowly until the target reaches 250 mL at the age of 9 months. You can also enhance the texture slowly until it is mashed. You can give main meals 2-3 times a day by interlude (for example, pulverized fruit) 1-2 times a day.
The following is a guide from IDAI regarding MPASI children that you can read. Consult with your pediatrician if you and your partner have allergic tendencies in the family.
So much information from me, hopefully enough answer
