Thanks for asking HealthReplies.com.
A burning or burning sensation around the wrist and back of the hand can occur in the following conditions:
1 Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS)
In CTS there may be pain, burning sensation, numbness, and tingling in the wrist due to pressure on the median nerve. This condition often occurs when you often perform repetitive movements, such as typing, using the mouse, writing, or sewing. CTS can also be caused by several special conditions, namely pregnancy, diabetes mellitus, and obesity.
In arthritis, symptoms of pain, swelling, warmth, and stiffness in the joints may appear.
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA): caused by an immune system reaction that attacks the joints, occurs mostly in women. RA is more common in the wrist, usually on both sides, and morning stiffness usually lasts longer (>1 hour).
Osteoarthritis (OA): caused by cartilage damage slowly, causing friction between bones during movement, mostly occurs at age > 50 years.
If your symptoms don't improve within a few days or if they get worse, you should see your doctor right away. The doctor will perform a physical examination and supporting examinations (x-rays/MRI, electromyography or nerve conduction examinations, blood tests, etc.) if necessary.
Before visiting the doctor, here are things you can do at home to reduce complaints:
• Resting or minimizing movement of the affected hand (at least 48 hours)
• Taking painkillers (paracetamol or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs / over-the-counter NSAIDs).
• To prevent complaints from reappearing, you are encouraged to exercise regularly, maintain an ergonomic / neutral position (neutral and relaxed position, rest your hands regularly if used for repetitive activities for a long time), and maintain an ideal body weight.
That's the information I can provide, hopefully useful.
