The Cause Of Drinking Water Glasses Filled With Ants?
Why does my drinking water cup always get into some ants? It only contains water, even though it has been washed away by ants. But my husband’s glass is not like that, only my glass. Is that one of the symptoms of diabetes (is my saliva sweet?)?
Hello Reyna Vidyantari, thank you for your question to HealthReplies.com.
Diabetes mellitus, or better known as diabetes is a condition in which a person's blood sugar levels are high (exceeding normal values). Diabetes itself is divided into several types, namely:
Type 1 diabetes mellitus (more often found in children / adolescents) that occurs due to damage to our pancreatic organs so that it cannot produce insulin which functions to enter blood sugar into muscles, so that sugar stays high in the blood.
Diabetes mellitus type 2. Type 2 diabetes is a type of diabetes that is more commonly found. This is associated with heredity, poor lifestyle (lack of physical activity, often consuming sweet foods / drinks or using artificial sweeteners), obesity, and so forth.
Diabetes in pregnancy (usually occurs in pregnant women who previously did not have diabetes, but in pregnancy found blood sugar increases
Other types of diabetes
Symptoms that can be found in diabetics include polydipsy (lots of drinking / feeling thirsty); polyuria (lots of pee); polyphagia (eat lots / get hungry easily); weight loss without apparent cause; itching on the skin; wounds that are difficult to heal; often sleepy; and others. These symptoms are not always felt by people with diabetes, and not necessarily people who experience these complaints must suffer from diabetes. It is necessary to check blood sugar levels to confirm the diagnosis (for example fasting blood sugar levels> 126 mg / dL or random / non-fasting blood sugar levels> 200 mg / dL, and there are several other criteria).
Early detection and treatment of diabetes is very important to do so that the disease does not run longer and there are no more severe diabetes complications.
Related to your question, in several studies that have been done, it was found glucose / sugar levels in the saliva of people suffering from diabetes are higher than normal people. So, your complaint related to the glass that the ant enters after you drink it can indeed be describing a high blood sugar level in your body. However, it is important to remember, this does not necessarily also indicate that you have diabetes, because it could have been influenced by other factors, for example, you have consumed sweet foods / drinks, then immediately drank in the glass.
My advice, to ensure your condition, check with your doctor. The doctor will do a question and answer in advance about other symptoms that you feel, a history of illness in yourself and a history of sugar in your family, and your lifestyle. After that the doctor will do a physical examination screening, and blood tests can be done to ascertain whether you have diabetes or not (you better fast beforehand +8 hours before the test for more accurate results).
That's all, hopefully it's useful, and hopefully you are always healthy.
