The Cause Of Green And Smelly Mucus?
My snot is thick green and smelly, it’s been about 4/5 days. And my nose is sore too. The only green mucus is the left nose whose right side is still clear. Then it was hard because it was hard for my ears to hurt too. And I felt that my throat was also phlegm. Is this a bad sign?
Thank you for the question.
The nose produces mucus or mucus which functions to protect the nasal cavity to keep it moist. Excess mucus production indicates that your body is experiencing something. The normal color of mucus is colorless or clear. The causes of mucus discoloration can vary, including:
nasal infections such as colds
allergies especially prolonged allergic rhinitis
polyps or growths of flesh in the nasal cavity
The nose is connected to the middle ear by means of the eustachian tube. If the nose is blocked, the function of the eustachian tube will be impaired. Disruption of the function of the eustachian tube will cause symptoms:
- Full taste
- Hearing loss
Some tips to help keep your nose healthy:
clean the nose from dirt
prevent allergies by avoiding allergy triggers
multiply eat fruits and vegetables
not smoking and drinking alcoholic beverages
use a mask when in places with the use of chemicals
Consult an ENT doctor if complaints do not improve.
