, I want to ask: I have a cold that doesn’t go away with earaches and aches in my neck, is that a symptom of a serious illness or not? And give me advice, thank you

1 Answer:

Hello,

Thank you for the question.

Colds, pain in the ear, and aches in the neck can be caused by the following conditions:

Rhinosinusitis (inflammation of the nasal and sinus cavities) Otitis media (inflammation of the middle ear) Otitis externa (inflammation of the external ear) Pharyngitis (inflammation of the throat) Other conditions, for example tonsillitis, nasal polyps, parotitis, jaw joint disorders, mastoiditis, nasopharyngeal cancer, lymphadenitis, infection of the throat viruses or other bacteria, etc. Various conditions above can sometimes also occur interrelated with one another. Because, between the ears, nose and throat, they are connected to several structures, namely the nasopharynx and the Eustachian tube. The causes of inflammation above can vary from infections, allergies, irritation, foreign body entry, benign or malignant tumors, immune disorders, and so on.

It should be clarified, has it been more than 3 days since your complaint appeared? Do you also have a fever, headache, nausea, vomiting, stiff neck, difficulty swallowing, or other more severe complaints?

If so, you should go to see your doctor directly or the ENT doctor. Your doctor may recommend that you undergo an x-ray examination, CT scan, endoscopic nasal cavity, or other supporting tests as a provision in determining the best treatment for your complaint.

In the meantime, our advice for you:

Do not contact with air conditioners and fans that are too cold, do not eat and drink cold, and limit out of the house when the ambient temperature is cold Use a humidifier in your area to act, so that the air does not dry Relieve pain in the ears and aches in your neck by drinking Paracetamol medicine Drink plenty of warm water, and eat fruits rich in vitamin C Don't smoke Don't do physical activity and excessive screaming Regularly exercise Do not poke your ears or put anything in your ears Apply a pain reliever cream on your sore neck Hope it helps yes..
