The ability to walk in infants can develop from 11 to 15 months of age. In some conditions, this development can occur more quickly but can also be slower. According to the Denver developmental scale, delays in walking in infants can be tolerated until they are 18 months old.
If your child is more than 18 years old and still unable to walk, then it could be:
Lack of stimulation Nutritional disorders, such as malnutrition or obesity History of premature birth or LBW (low birth weight baby) Mental retardation Cerebral palsy, etc. We suggest that you first check your child with a pediatrician, growth and development sub-division for further examination. The doctor will evaluate based on standardized benchmarks how your child is developing, whether it is appropriate or deviating from the age it should be. After that, the next treatment step will be determined according to the underlying cause.
In the meantime, you should continue to stimulate your child's development so that he can walk. The trick can be by inviting him to play, namely by placing his favorite toy or object in a position that is difficult for him to reach so that he is willing to try to reach it. Do not use excessive breastfeeding if the baby's legs have not been able to support his weight properly, this is feared to cause injury to the muscles or nerves around the arm.
In addition, also balance the stimulation by meeting their nutritional needs, namely by giving children breast milk and complementary foods that are healthy and nutritious according to their age.
