Good evening, I want to ask. These days (about 1 week) I have a dry cough with a sore / itchy / dry throat and the last 2 days the body feels warm, when I try to swallow the throat feels dry and a little sore but when I eat / drink I have no pain or difficulty swallowing. when coughs dry instantly the heartbeat beats fast and when in a cold / air conditioned room I cough more often. I think that’s why.

Hello Teguh Ariyanto,

Coughing is the body's response when there is a foreign object or something that irritates the respiratory tract. A persistent cough can be found in various respiratory diseases from mild to severe.

Tuberculosis is a disease caused by infection with the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Transmission of tuberculosis through droplets issued by patients when coughing, sneezing, singing, or screaming into the air. Someone will be easily infected if there is close contact (living together, sharing a room, etc.) with active tuberculosis sufferers with positive bacteriology. Transmission is easier if the house is not well ventilated, not exposed to sunlight, sufferers do not practice the ethics of correct coughing (not covering the nose and mouth), expelling phlegm carelessly, poor environmental sanitation, and poor immunity makes a person easily infected.

Indonesia is an endemic area for tuberculosis. A person infected with tuberculosis can become ill with tuberculosis (can transmit it to others) or may have latent tuberculosis infection (asymptomatic and cannot transmit it to others). Adult patients with tuberculosis usually show the following symptoms:

Chronic cough
Coughing up blood
Drastic weight loss
Night sweats
Chest pain
Enlarged lymph nodes
Out of breath

Tuberculosis in addition to affecting the lungs and causing the symptoms above, can also affect other parts such as the digestive tract, glands, skin, bones, until the lining of the brain.

Patients who show clinical symptoms of tuberculosis need additional investigations such as smear sputum examination, chest x-ray, blood tests, to confirm the diagnosis of tuberculosis.

Tuberculosis can be treated until healed and the main goal is to break the chain of transmission (not infect others). Tuberculosis treatment uses anti-tuberculosis drugs (in the form of a combination of several types of fixed drugs) taken for at least 6 months. During the treatment will be repeated evaluations of the results of treatment.

Cold air / AC is dry, so that it can irritate the respiratory tract and trigger coughing in some people.

Symptoms of fever and cough, not only can be caused by tuberculosis. Some other possibilities are:

Flu
Covid-19 (corona virus disease)
Acute bronchitis
Pneumonia

Please read more about the above diseases to get more complete information. If there are severe symptoms such as shortness of breath or high fever for> 3 consecutive days, please check with the nearest health facility. If the symptoms are similar to Covid-19 and meet the epidemiological + risk criteria, please contact hotline 119 ext 9 or 112 or other covid-19 hotline number provided by the local government.

Thus the explanation from me, hopefully useful.
