The Cause Of The Throat Feels Sticky With Foamy White Phlegm

I want to ask, when I wake up I feel my throat is sticky like mucus, uncomfortable, and feels like I’m going to cough. but I don’t have a fever or runny nose. when I took it out it turned out that my white phlegm was foamy. is that dangerous?

Hello Lala,
Complaints of the throat feel sticky or uncomfortable and like coughing when you wake up can be caused by a dry throat. When sleeping we do not drink for a long time other than that sometimes during sleep someone unconsciously opens the mouth and breathes through the mouth and this can cause the throat to feel dry. Usually after drinking water the complaints will improve.
If the complaint does not improve by drinking water, the complaint that you feel can be caused by several other factors, such as:
Strep throat and tonsils
Flu
Sinusitis
Allergic reaction
Dry or cold air
Consumption of spicy food or too hot
Exposure to smoke or steam
Side effects of several types of drugs
For now try to consume healthier foods, avoid spicy foods, multiply vegetables and fruit, drink more water, and provide water next to the bed so you can drink whenever you wake up. Avoid breathing through the mouth and always keep your teeth and mouth clean. Don't forget to do regular exercise, avoid stress, and at home just to apply social and physical distancing during the corona virus pandemic.
If the complaint does not improve immediately with symptoms of fever more than 38 degrees Celsius, shortness of breath, or coughing up blood, you should consult a doctor so that it can be ascertained and so that more appropriate treatment can be given.
Hope it helps you,
Thank you
