The Child Wakes Up In The Middle Of His Sleep?
Suddenly my brother was in the middle of the night, then many people asked like a daze, his feet were cold, was that dangerous …
Hello Muhammad Fatah, thank you for asking.
Children wake up in the middle of sleep can be caused by several things. Sleep is divided into two stages, namely the NREM (non rapid eye movement) stage and the REM (rapid eye movement) stage. Sleep begins with NREM, then enters sleep in the REM stage, then returns to the NREM stage, and so on back and forth like that. At the NREM stage a person is generally not fully asleep, the muscles are not yet fully inactive, so during this period people are still easily awakened. In the REM stage, the heart rate and breathing rate slow down, muscle inactivity, dreaming can occur, and deep sleepers are difficult to awaken.
Sometimes, some people may wake up suddenly at the NREM or REM stage. Generally people will wake up in a state of confusion, or fear. Some people will babble (delirious) or even sleepwalk. Sleepwalking is not always only in the form of walking, someone can also do other activities such as taking things, playing things, and so on. These symptoms are more often experienced by children than adults. Generally children will not remember what was done or said after they woke up.
These conditions can generally disappear on their own. However, the risk of injury should be noted if the child goes to sleep walking. If the condition recurs and becomes more severe, consult a pediatrician. The doctor will do a basic examination to look for physical abnormalities. If no physical abnormalities are found, the doctor may need to refer to a psychiatrist. Meanwhile, pay attention to whether there is a change in behavior or emotions in your younger sibling. Write down if any, then consult with a doctor.
Hopefully this information can help. Regards.
